Sarah McKerrigan Book Reviews

DANGER'S KISS Reviews...

"In DANGER’S KISS, Sarah McKerrigan has really done it this time, as she tries to prove she is as daring as her characters, pitting the most unlikely pair together, expecting them to end their head-to-head combat and be at peace. So will she finally lose this one? Of course not! She is Sarah McKerrigan of the magic pen...From page one, this story will grab you, and keep you fiercely reading to the very last page. You cannot miss this one."
Lucele Coutts, Novel Talk

"McKerrigan has crafted her tale like a bard's ballad, capturing the era with rich detail and feisty characters. This compelling medieval action-adventure romance is all that McKerrigan's readers desire."
Kathe Robin, Romantic Times BOOKClub

"Desiree and Nicholas both are sexy, interesting, and atypical characters whose unique story will enthrall readers, and McKerrigan’s depiction of thirteenth-century Kent excites the imagination."
Diana Tixier Herald, Booklist

"DANGER'S KISS is full of the life of medieval England...a memorable romance with a touch of sweetness."
Carolyn Crisher, Romance Reviews Today

"DANGER’S KISS is an exciting medieval romantic suspense starring two opposites in love. Whereas she is all con artist and he is all law enforcer, their romance makes for strange bedfellows yet each realistically compromises their 'values' for the other. Fans will appreciate Sarah McKerrigan's fine thirteenth century tale as Desiree takes over Nicholas’ home, cat, and heart."
Harriet Klausner, Genre Go Round Reviews

"Boy meets girl. Girl hates boy; boy hates girl. They get to know one another; Soon, boy loves girl; girl loves boy. Then girl is accused of murder and boy must hang girl...wait a minute... What? difficult it must be to be the executioner who everyone is made to fear. McKerrigan does an excellent job rounding out the role and the man in it... Desiree's strong, independent character is believable... She had to live by her wits and learned to use men's desires rather than be dominated by them...escapism to satisfy the romantic.?
Jandy’s Reading Room

"Watching Desiree and Nicolas go from enemies to friends was amazing. Desiree and Nicolas have trust issues and both are flawed characters who evolve throughout the book. It was interesting to see how Desiree and Nicolas come together and learn to bring out the best in each other. Will they come together and find the real killer? With a well thought out plot and a cast of interesting characters, as well as a very evil villain, McKerrigan’s “Danger’s Kiss? was a very fast, enjoyable read."
Shellie, Queue My Review

"Danger’s Kiss by Sarah McKerrigan is a wonderfully written love story set in medieval times. Desiree is a thief, and she has no plans to change that, yet she is a character you instantly like. She is strong yet vulnerable, and it makes her seem like more of a real person. Nicholas is the most disliked man around, and it leaves him with a sadness that makes you want to give him a hug. He is the perfect hero in the sense that he is a bad boy, but at the same time he’s really not the boogeyman everyone thinks him to be. He’s sexy and makes me wish we lived in medieval times... Danger’s Kiss is a great book full of romance, mystery, and characters you can’t help but fall in love with."
Ashley, Fallen Angel Reviews

"DANGER'S KISS is a thoroughly enjoyable, page-turning medieval romance. Readers who are tired of lords and ladies as heroes and heroines in their romances will welcome Nicholas and Desiree. Nicholas and Desiree are fully realized characters who are not as they seem, and Ms. McKerrigan slowly and skillfully peels back the layers and lets the reader find out how they truly are. Ms McKerrigan captures the thirteenth century England with her vivid and colorful writing. DANGER'S KISS is highly recommended!"
Debora Hosey, The Romance Reader's Connection

"Glorious story. Just loved it...very entertaining and a little different."
Donna, Romance Reviews

"I have read several books by the sassy and ever fabulous Sarah McKerrigan and this is by far the most entertaining... McKerrigan writes historical romance novels that are well researched but not difficult to follow... This Medieval historic is like nothing I’ve ever read. It’s as much a mystery as a romance, which makes it twice as entertaining. It has substance, it’s compelling, and it captures the era in detail that leaps off the page. Their journey from enemies to friends and lovers is grounded and realistic but amusing. Their relationship has problems from the start, but they’re not formulaic. The story flows well and is enjoyable, entertaining, and fresh. Desiree and Nicholas are very rich, very passionate, very real characters with strengths and flaws. These are characters you fall in love with, ones you cheer for. But I do have to say that the cat steals the show."
Suzanne Lazear, Fantasyland Live Blog

"Danger’s Kiss has a fascinating storyline with interesting characters...I love how he and Desirée find a way to put their different backgrounds together to bring out the good qualities in them in this intriguing tale."
Cherokee, Coffee Time Romance

"This adventure-packed, passion-filled romance between a woman who's a maiden by day and an outlaw by night is the most intriguing of the trilogy, and McKerrigan doesn't stint on biting verbal repartee or thrilling action scenes. She delivers just what readers want."
Kathe Robin, Romantic Times Book Reviews

Margaret Marr, Nights and Weekends

"...a delightfully entertaining story that will warm your early spring nights!"
Jani Brooks, Romance Reviews Today

"...truly a book to keep readers entertained. Ms. McKerrigan brings the characters to life with each turn of the page, with the exciting heroine who is not what she seems, to the handsome hero who is not the man he claims to be. I found myself unable to put this book down once I started. Magnificently written, with a remarkable plot, this is one book readers will not want to miss."
Tangela Williams, The Romance Readers Connection

"...filled with intrigue and excitement (passion also, of course)."
Romance Reviews

"Purely delightful as well as wicked, the deceit is what makes this a wonderful story. Ms. McKerrigan has written a truly terrific story and one that had me laughing as well as holding my breath."
Liadan, Coffee Time Romance

"...full of surprises, a lot of action and deception and best of all, the discovery of love and an attraction so forceful Miriel and Rand could burn from the heat. I loved it and highly recommend this medieval romance."
Tammie Ard

"...a witty plot with great dialog between Rand and Miriel...fights with expert swordplay that will thrill readers...complex with wonderful twists and turns and an exciting exciting medieval romance that readers won’t want to miss."
Tracy, Historical Romance Writers

"Knight's Prize has everything, from deception and secrets, to passion and romance, with elements of humor. Sarah McKerrigan's attention to time period detail is wonderful and she makes you see the forest where The Shadow lurks. Sir Rand and Miriel are perfectly suited for each other and the romance between them develops seamlessly. Enjoy!"
Kim Atchue-Cusella, Bookloons

"...a wonderful story that captured my attention...This book is a keeper."
Robert H. Goss, Roundtable Reviews

"I am so thrilled that Sarah McKerrigan has written this trilogy of able-bodied, warrior-spirited women. These books mirror the mindset of movies like The Matrix and Pirates of the Caribbean, where women can ably stand alongside men to do what is right."
Lisa Shea, Bella Online

"This final installment in Sarah McKerrigan's Warrior Maids of Rivenloch trilogy is wonderful. I've adored reading about each of the sisters and I highly recommend reading all three."
Heather Riley, Borders Bookseller

"...seduction, passion, and plenty of deception!"
Lucele Coutts, Novel Talk

"The second installment of The Warrior Maids of Rivenloch pits the feisty Helena against an Englishman in a battle-of-wills plot that more than satisfies. Supplying a colorful backdrop, biting repartee and sensual love scenes, McKerrigan carries out the captive/captor fantasy flawlessly. Captive Heart not only piques your senses, but will make you laugh while you remember what it was like to fall in love."
Kathe Robin, Romantic Times Book Reviews

"Helena is a strong heroine who enchants immediately. She is a feisty girl who can take care of herself and makes you laugh. Colin is not only amused by her, but is concerned that she takes chances and wants to protect her. The way their relationship develops kept me turning pages, wanting to see them finally give in to their passions. Sarah McKerrigan has a way of drawing readers in from the first page - I recommend Captive Heart to those who enjoy historical romances."
Kim Atcheu-Cusella, Bookloons

"This is a really enjoyable tale of two people who are more alike than they'd care to admit. It's well-written with realistic dialogue, and the main characters are a delight. Adventure and a wisp of mystery add to the historical accuracy and excellent storyline."
Jani Brooks, Romance Reviews Today

"Captive Heart is a solid, well written historical set during the time of arranged marriages and political unrest...I love the time period in which the book is set and found it totally captivating. I can’t wait to see if the third sister in this series gets her own novel!"
Talia Ricci, Joyfully Reviewed

"Once again, Sarah McKerrigan takes us on a lusty adventure in medieval Scotland, where battles are fought over land and power and castles are laid in siege. Take a leap back to the past and experience a time of swordplay and courageous knights and warrior women who are worthy of each other’s love. Medieval Scotland springs to life under the knowledge and skillful imagination of the author, and I’m still eagerly awaiting Miriel’s story—the third warrior maiden of Rivenloch."
Margaret Marr, Nights and Weekends

"These sisters are totally unique to so-called romance fiction, at least in my experience (which is fairly considerable), especially Helena. They are warriors all, and as written by the remarkably talented Ms. McKerrigan they are totally believable. God, it's so nice to have truly strong and capable female protagonists for a change. Add to that the fact that the author managed to create men who come to value their ladies strength, bravery and sense of honor as they would any other true warrior, and to my mind you have the perfect love stories. Ms. McKerrigan also manages to write very sensual love scenes without going over the top. They flow so naturally and carry a true visceral punch. She's done absolutely everything right, except making us wait so long for Miriel's story. I'm not going to go into storylines. Read the books. I promise you will not regret purchasing both "Lady Danger" and "Captive Heart". If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would."

"A thoroughly enthralling romance that brings back characters readers we have met and loved previously. The sizzling blaze Colin and Helena ignite is second to the tender emotions both try to hide. The addition of an invading army is riotous with humor, courage and despair on the parts of the Lord of the Manor and Colin when their women do what they do best - fight for their home and loved ones."
Faith V. Smith,

"The author mixes in quite a bit of humor throughout the story, but where McKerrigan really excels in her writing is in the book's dramatic and battle action scenes. Not to mention, the loves scenes between Helena and Colin were sensual and hot, hot, hot!
Sarah McKerrigan has a wonderful medieval voice and a great flare for the dramatic, and I have no doubt that fans of Xena-type stories will fall in love with this series."
Nancy Davis, Romance Readers at Heart

"Ms. McKerrigan wrote with a CAPTIVE HEART a spellbinding novel that will keep you captivated from the moment you start reading...The witty dialogues and the sizzling tension between them make the book a real keeper. This reviewer has been a long time fan of Ms. McKerrigan’s books and she was never disappointed by one of her books."
Danny, Love Romances and More

"The well-written story was very amusing utilizing barbs and witty banter between the two protagonists which helped to keep this reader glued to the pages long into the night."
Marilyn Rondeau, Reviewers International Organization

"A fine medieval, CAPTIVE HEART is the second in the Warrior Maids of Rivenloch series, and sure to please many a fan. The characters were wonderfully witty with realistic dialogue and a colorfully depicted sense of time and place. The action is fast paced and exciting.
The sexual tension between Helena and Colin was vividly written, with Colin portrayed as a truly romantic hero in every sense of the word; a captive falling in love with his captor, capturing the heroine along the way. I laughed and I cried while cheering for both, all the while turning the pages while not wanting the story to end."
Lettetia, Historical Romance Writers

"...warmth, wit and humor...a delight to read."
Carol Carter, Romance Reviews Today

"The plotting is great, and I love the intricate worlds that are created. The personalities are both nicely developed and also quite different than those of the first book. Sarah isn't just churning out "book after book" with cookie-cutter heroes and heroines - they are very unique people."
Lisa Shea, Bella Online

LADY DANGER Reviews...

"McKerrigan's debut delivers plenty of action and loads of passion with a trio of women who can fend for themselves, even if they discover it's nice to have a man around the house. The sisters win your admiration, and you'll adore the to-die-for Pagan. McKerrigan is a fresh, exciting voice who knows how to stir a reader's blood."
Kathe Robin, Romantic Times BOOKClub

"This is exactly the type of story I adore. The woman is not a shrinking violet that screams and waits for a guy to rescue her. She doesn't pine away in a tower, watching the world drift by because she's too feeble to actually take control of her own life. Instead, she picks up her sword, grabs the dagger out of her boot, and takes a stand for what she believes in."
Lisa Shea,

"...scenes of passion that will heat the room and melt any woman’s heart. You couldn’t ask for much more than sword fights, strong wills and a true love with which to share it all."
Amanda Rutherford, Romance Reader at Heart

"It’s the age-old tale of a woman’s will against a man’s, which eventually grows into mutual respect and love. Humor and wit set this story above most. I found myself laughing out loud at unexpected moments."
Margaret Marr, Nights and Weekends

"A strong woman and an equally stalwart knight come together in this tale rife with romance. Two stubborn, steadfast people who are both too obstinate to see the truth -- that they're made for one another...
Well researched, and with interesting characters, LADY DANGER is a very enjoyable read."
Jani Brooks, Romance Reviews Today

"Captivating! Passionate! Powerful! Sarah McKerrigan writes of a Scotland she knows and loves, and protagonists so well-matched, their love grows stronger each day as they realize that together they can do anything."
Lucele Coutts, Novel Talk

"The Maids of Rivenloch pave the way for modern women in this entrancing tale of Scottish warriors and Norman Knights...handsome knights, humor, and heated love scenes for a fantastic medieval read."
Faith Smith,

"This is an extremely adventurous and fast paced romance. From the beginning, you are taken on Deirdre’s plight to fight for her home. Entertaining characters with snappy dialogue keep you entranced, as the personal war between Deirdre and Pagan keeps you entertained. Steamy sexual tension sizzles through the whole tale creating enough friction for spice. All in all this is one exceptional read."
Wateena, Coffee Time Romance and Karen Find Out About New Books

"LADY DANGER is an adventure and a contest of wills. I found the story to be very entertaining and well worth the read. The characters seem to reach out and grab your attention."
Robert H. Goss, Round Table Reviews

"The story moves along nicely and anon, there is adventure, friction, seduction, loving and even some laughing. Forsooth, Lady Danger is a medieval that seems mostly true to the setting and McKerrigan is a writer to keep an eye on in the future."
Shirley Lyons, The Romance Reader

"Lady Danger is terrific! Deirdre is strong and compassionate, a great heroine to read about. Deirdre and her very handsome and noble husband Pagan make a powerful and passionate team that made it impossible for me to put this book down. The characters of Lady Danger combine to make a very enjoyable story bursting with action and sensuality, add this in with a terrific story line, and I found Lady Danger a keeper that will definitely be re-read. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in this series. Helena's story in Captive Heart sounds just as captivating as Lady Danger is."
Nannette, Joyfully Reviewed

" entertaining read...I look forward to the second book in the trilogy, and recommend Lady Danger to anyone who enjoys medieval romances."
